The BATHORY Discography

The back catalogue of BATHORY is as vast as it is versatile. Spanning two decades of evolution, it covers every aspect of BATHORY. From deep diving into the fiery pits of hell to entering the great halls’ up high. From the sadistic mind of the serial killer to modern society in decline. From the inquisition and the ladies room blowjobs, to the high adventures on foreign costs far far away. BATHORY was there.

These days albums are released almost exclusive in the CD format, vinyl releases being both rare and limited. But back when BATHORY was formed, the Compact Disc was virtually still a science project. The first BATHORY album to be released in the CD format was TWILIGHT OF THE GODS, and the only BATHORY albums hitherto to be released in the DigiPack format are NORDLAND I and NORDLAND II.

Today, thanks to the efforts of BATHORY and Black Mark, almost the entire BATHORY catalogue is again available in the trusty old vinyl format. The 20th Anniversary of BATHORY meant that not only would all albums be released as vinyl, but all the Lp’s and all CD’s produced in 2003 and since, are digitally re-mastered from original master tapes, and comes packed in enhanced cover artwork.

In this chapter, we will look at every aspect of the BATHORY catalogue. We will account for the releases both in chronological order and in detail. We present a table containing every track released by BATHORY in alphabetical order. We will also take a look at the official BATHORY compilation albums and official appearances by BATHORY on other compilation albums. And we will discuss the bootleg issue, as well as briefly mention tributes and covers.

The Bootleg Issue

Oddly enough, despite the fact each and every BATHORY album ought to be well known to all, both by title and cover, some fans will still write or email BATHORY asking about the authenticity of some seemingly fishy CD they just bought. And few extreme metal acts have been so extensively subjected to rip off products, bootlegs and illegal crap, as BATHORY. These samples of a excrement phenomenon being a scourge to the whole scene and industry, of course have nothing to do with BATHORY whatsoever. Consequently; for obvious reasons, you will find no info on bootlegs on this official BATHORY site. For well over a decade the so-called “demo” tracks, featured in their true form on the three JUBILEUM volumes, have frequently been lifted off the official releases to make up the tracking list of countless bootleg CD’s produced in basements and excrement dens around the world. These bootleg CD’s are then sold off to unsuspecting and gullible, yet die-hard fans, as BATHORY demo CD’s. A great industry for parasites to make some bucks from stealing and selling the art of others. And should anybody, for whatever reason, want to bleed an act to death, a perfect way to do just that would of course be to purchase these illegal bootleg products, to illegally download music available on the web, or to resort to plain piracy by copying a friends’ CD.

– Believe it or not, but I have even had braindead journalists trying to corner me for speaking out against the pirates and the bootleggers. Their argument seem to rest on a faulty notion that these bootleggers are nothing but die hard fans themselves, and that it’s suppose to be regarded as a crime of passion more than anything else.

– My response is always this; if anybody calls himself or herself a fan, somewhere in their heart they should find the reasoning to understand that you just don’t steal somebody else’s art, then pack and sell that in a form and format not originally intended or desired by whatever the band or artist. To cast the seriousness of bootlegging aside, by saying that most of that industry is made up by passionate die-hard fans’, is to display a total lack of logic and intelligence, and to neglect a serious problem faced by all recording artists these days.

– I don’t own even a single CD copied from a friends original legally purchased CD, simply because I have too much respect for creative artists and composing musicians the world over, regardless of whatever music it is they’re writing and playing, and I am a professional musician and composer myself. By the same token, I do not have a single MP3 file in my PC or on CDR. It’s a matter of honor, honesty and to support fellow creative musicians and composers.

– I think the MP3 format, and the possibilities to spread creative music and correct information across the web, is awesome when used that way. I’m all for the MP3 format when it comes to get an unsigned act noticed, and for music to reach people all over the place, much in the same way tape-trading was the pulse of the underground twenty years back. It’s when the format becomes a substitute for or replaces regular albums/CD’s, that it becomes a threat to the entire scene.

– Some dickheads say they’re all into not buying music legally, as a way to protest against too expensive CD’s and making a stand against the fat and wealthy record industry. Well, my comment to that is; you think the CD’s will be any cheaper in the future should everybody continue to download music illegally and resort to music piracy?! Duh !!

– If there’s a bunch of bands or genres you like; support these by gladly pay for the awesome music they bring you. And for those of you who think music piracy won’t effect extreme metal, let me ask you; You think recording albums are cheap?! You think in the future people will be interested in setting small independent metal labels up and just work for free?! You think musicians and people in the extreme metal industry don’t have bills and shit to pay?! You think the network in the music industry is made up from people who’ll readily work for nothing?! You think studios are free?! You think artists paint album covers for free?! You think CD plants and printing firms don’t have expenses?! You think getting the records out to you all around the world is a kind of magic?! You think the ad’s that tells you this or that album is out, are free?! You think record shops don’t have salaries and rents to pay?! You think none of us have taxes to put up with?! Well, think again.

– You’ll probably not work for free for somebody else, or give away what you have time and effort to create from scratch, so why we?! Just like you have expenses to take care of. We all spend a huge amount of time and tons of money to get as good albums as possible out to you all. And if you want to own more albums than you can pay for, maybe you should either start making some priorities in life or at least stop illegally downloading and pirating right now, so that in the near future, not only will all great bands actually be able to continue making more awesome music and bring you more kick ass albums, but the CD price will drop dramatically as well.

– In a not too distant future, should this illegal shit continue, we’re looking at only one or maybe two huge global record companies that will be putting out only a highly limited variety of music performed by only a handful recording artists. And let me tell you all, they ain’t gonna be playing metal. Homeburning, illegal downloading and music piracy, will not knock multinational companies and dinosaur labels down, they have enough money coming in from other businesses to cover for most but not all loses. It might not even damage too much the business of those who are already at the top of the mainstream charts, those with mansions in Beverly Hills and gold albums all over their walls. But even limited music piracy will usually mean the difference between life and death for tons of extreme metal bands out there. Support them. Cut the music piracy crap.

– And it’s not an underground thing to keep supporting the bootlegging industry. It’s not cool to download music illegally or resort to music piracy. It’s cheap but not cool. Believe me, I am from the underground. I am still underground. And even though the underground may not be there as it once was, and even though BATHORY may be on an independent label these days, and may sell relatively huge figures, BATHORY is still an underground enterprise heart and soul. And everybody who knows me, or who have been corresponding with me for some time, knows how true that is and how much pride I take in still considering myself underground. Hail the Underground!!

– To support your favorite bands by legally purchasing their releases, is the best way to support metal. And whether or not this or that band by definition is still underground, whether or not you’re on a major label, an independent label or a small basement type label, the connection by blood and soul is usually still there.

Collecting the BATHORY Albums

Some will be very careful when picking which albums to purchase. A particular phase, or a certain style and theme, is very important to some buyers. And for the same reason, some albums will be carefully let be. While some albums are regarded as legendary releases, as classics no matter what the style, and absolutely vital in a extreme metal album collection, other albums are regarded as not so much a necessity.

Then there are collectors that has just got to have it all; CD’s, Lp’s, Picture Disc’s and DigiPack’s. And some even still ask for Cassettes. For the collectors, the various and different release formats, rather than style, era and theme, is the issue. Even crappy bootlegs will be met with open arms by some not too loyal collectors.

The most obvious aspects from a collectors point of view when collecting the BATHORY albums, are of course limited edition releases, variations in album cover layout, slightly different vinyl labels or a different batch of colors used from one country to another and from one decade to another.

The most famous and prized object of all releases by BATHORY, is of course the famed “yellow goat” first album in vinyl format. It will sell for absurd prices. Should you stumble across one that also includes the very limited edition lyrics sheet, or should the cover itself be autographed, you’re looking at a very exclusive and very expensive piece of collectors item indeed.

In due time, we will feature images showing some of the most obvious variations in BATHORY albums released worldwide over the past two decades.

This is the highly sought after and more than readily infamous “yellow goat” first album cover layout.
Sporting it’s unique yellow goat with red eyes and a white BATHORY logo, and limited to only 1.000 copies
produced in August 1983, the “yellow goat” is not only instantly recognized, but has sadly been extensively
bootlegged over the years as well. A certified original is a true die-hard collectors item, and frequently
fans will email BATHORY, asking Quorthon to verify the authenticity of a recently purchased item sold
as genuine. This image is showing a “yellow goat” original cover that has also been autographed
by Quorthon personally. In other words; not only is this a very rare and highly prized die-hard
collectorsitem indeed, but the owner is a very lucky fan.

BATHORY Tributes and BATHORY Covers

These days, not only the official BATHORY albums will bring you the innovative creations of BATHORY. These’s a plethora of BATHORY covers out there in the form of both underground releases and official albums. And there’s a handful of BATHORY tribute releases out as well. Some released underground and hardly known outside tight circuits. Others released in a more high profile fashion.

We are working on collecting MP3 samples of BATHORY covers, thinking it would be nice to show all bathory.nu visitors how various bands around the world interpret BATHORY material. Should you have or should you know about a band that recorded a BATHORY cover and featured that on either a demo, LP or CD, and would you have a copy of that recording, hesitate not to drop us a email about that with full information and perhaps an MP3 enclosed. And any act that ever recorded a BATHORY cover is of course very welcome to contribute with band info and MP3 samples for a page we intend to create for the future entitled BATHORY TRIBUTE. So get your band noticed on a global scale, and your noise heard, and get those samples in now!!

One of the tributes talked about the most, more due to the controversy surrounding it than anything else, is one entitled “In Conspiracy with Satan”. It is not only the many false stories circulating this product, but also the many deep emotions expressed every once in a while when this tribute is discussed, that infects peoples notion of the story surrounding this tribute.

– That whole story was blown way out of proportions. To cut the tale short, what happened was we opposed the way they used the BATHORY logo and our goat trademark. It would have been nice if they could have created something of their own for a package.

– Already at a very early stage did we tell them that this wasn’t going to go down very well legally or emotionally. The layout of the product, for instance, included a photo of me taken in London way back in the mid 80’s, but they never bothered to ask Tony Mottram the English photographer for permission to commercially use his photo. Also, by the time it was released, it had neither been filed, numbered or reported as a commercial product legal for sale anywhere.

– In the initial stage of production, if I remember correctly, we gave them lot’s of advise on how to go ahead, and tried to help them out best we could so they wouldn’t step on no practical or legal mines down the road. But they decided to neglect all of that. Eventually, when the legal situation became such that our record company, by contract and law responsible for looking after the legal and royalty rights of their signed artists, felt they had to act in a mild way. So the whole thing was settled out of court. We didn’t try to stop them. We weren’t trying to kill the product. The thing didn’t even go down the court files. So end of story.

– There were some publishing rights, legal rights, royalty procedures and what have you going on. But the funny thing was we didn’t push the button. Eventually it turned out they hadn’t even secured the commercial status of the project, yet wanted to sell it to people nationally and internationally, and it was the appropriate Swedish authorities that told them which formulas they had to fill in and how to go about when you release commercially legal records.

– The down side to this whole story is that this guy took it personal when in fact it wasn’t even near the personal level. It was strict straight poker. We never opposed the product as such, we never tried to stop it from being produced. Why should we have wanted to do something like that? Very few acts get to have tributes recorded in their honor. We saw this as a great thing not only for BATHORY and our audience, but for the acts featured on this tribute as well. It was a homage made to our music and history. We had no interest in stopping or bad-mouthing the project in any way. It wasn’t until they took the wrong turn down the hallway and got themselves into trouble for neglecting the law, that our record company decided to get out of their chair.

– All this is of course my recollection of the chain of events. Of course this is just one side of the story, my side of the story. But what the hell, their version has been widely regarded as the true version for too long anyway. I was never in personal contact with anybody responsible for that tribute project, and none of them knew or approached me personally, yet they made me out to be this traitor of the underground, a sell-out cock-rock star having lost touch with his roots. The sad thing is a lot of people were very quick in deciding to believe in that crap. The general kicking-on-BATHORY-for-any-reason attitude was very much fashion back in those days, and a lot of idiots did their best to beef the “In Conspiracy”-story up with additional lies, rumors and utter crap.

– Again; I came from the underground. I am still underground. BATHORY is still an underground project. The underground feel is still vital in everything that we do. No tours, no shows and just one sort-of video flick in over two decades. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you can’t be more underground than BATHORY. To accuse me, of all people, to have sold out, and to talk about me as having betrayed the underground, just shows how very little some people know about things, and how much others should think for just a second before they open their pathetic little mouths.

– I haven’t heard the thing myself yet. But a fan told me some band on that tribute had not only settled on trying to re-create the intro to “Call from the Grave” but actually copied the original recording. That, together with the use of our logo and goat head trademark, and the obvious copying of the Black Mark talon that I designed initially, and their neglecting to even try and make it a legal and official release, all sort of summed the inferiority complex level of that whole project up pretty well. Trying to re-create, re-enact or steal the thunder of BATHORY just won’t work, assholes!!

For years, acts around the world have paid homage to BATHORY by performing BATHORY material live, and by recording a BATHORY cover for either a demo, LP, CD, EP, a limited release or a special edition DigiPack. We have compiled a list of BATHORY covers recorded by bands paying homage to BATHORY. Covers recorded by BATHORY

A number of covers have been recorded by BATHORY throughout the years, but only very few of them have ever been released. Most notorious are the Motörhead “Ace of Spades” and the Black Sabbath “War Pigs” covers featured on the BLACK MARK TRIBUTE VOLUME I and BLACK MARK TRIBUTE VOLUME II respectively. As far as covers on official BATHORY albums goes, the amount is limited to only one. And this as a result of circumstances more than a plan.

Due to the lyrical content of a couple of tracks recorded for the OCTAGON album, the band was asked to lift these tracks off the album before release. Thus the OCTAGON album was all of a sudden a handful of minutes, or two tracks, short, and this only weeks prior to release. The band had to resort to include a very hastily recorded cover, the KISS classic “Deuce”, on the album in a last minute effort to fill this sudden void on the OCTAGON album.

– The German, and predominately female and former Eastern, staff down the Black Mark main office in those days, sort of didn’t get the idea of artistic freedom, didn’t get the lyrics to “Resolution Greed” and “Genocide” overall, and basically got it all wrong from scratch. Thus, they would firmly put their Birkenstocks down, say “-Nein!!“, and basically refuse to work with or for the new BATHORY album unless these particular tracks were lifted off the album. The same situation had happened six months before with another track intended for REQUIEM, so I ought to have been prepared. (read more on that story in the REQUIEM chapter/Webmaster)

– Their objective was they believed the tracks to be racist material. All they heard was the sort of Arabian notes in “Resolution Greed”, thinking it was a track that could and/or would upset their Palestinian friends, when actually the track was about Western capitalism and the predicament of most of the people living in the Arab world.

– Then they must have actually read the lyrics to “Genocide”, realized it was about the death camps of the 40’s, and got themselves a heartattack or something. They thought the track said “-Great stuff!“, “-Love them gaschamber!” or “-We applaud that!“. What the track actually did was describing a historic fact, just like Spielberg described it when he made Schindlers’ List and got himself a bag of Oscars.

– In Germany throughout the 90’s, thanks to the works of the anti-BATHORY mob of the German metal media, BATHORY was generally regarded as a neo-nazi act. Mainly due to first and foremost the Nordic lyrics and Viking imageries on the albums of the late 80’s and early 90’s, but also because I would hit back every time the highly subjective nazi-connections were insinuated during interviews conducted with German press exclusively. And one way that I would hit back, and make fun of their paranoia, was writing stuff on some albums that I knew would make them choke on their kebabs.

– Also, at that time, the very most extreme Black Metal acts of the second generation began to pick up nazi ideals and blend that with Nordic themes. And since all of them bands hailed BATHORY as their masters and tudors, we were bundled up with that bunch, branded as nazi’s and treated as lepers in Germany.

– All this, plus the story of the ex-East German rock journalist who witnessed me with a bag of vintage plastic model airplanes (read more on that story in the HAMMERHEART chapter/Webmaster), created an ugly atmosphere, and made it very difficult for BATHORY to work in Germany throughout the 90’s. Which was the whole idea with bad-mouthing us to begin with.

– So, due to the supposedly anti-Arabian and gaschamber material, i.e. “Resolution Greed” and “Genocide”, we were left with this void on the OCTAGON album just a couple of weeks prior to release, and felt we just had to fill it something. So that’s when we remember we still had some goofing around on tape from that first morning, and that’s how “Deuce” ended up on OCTAGON. It was a bit of messing about that ended up on tape, with no soundcheck and with only a couple of microphones on. Everything apart from that first live rhythm guitar and overhead live drums, was added in a flash tons of weeks later. And that is why it sounds so ugly and different from the rest of the album. (read more on that story in the OCTAGON chapter/Webmaster)

And for BATHORY, KISS material would return onto the scene. Right in the middle of mixing NORDLAND II, BATHORY was offered to take part in Nuclear Blast’s idea of how to best celebrate KISS’ 30th anniversary. Originally the offer was for the “Deuce” track off OCTAGON to be representing BATHORY. But as things turned out, Nuclear Blast realized they had already secured that particular track performed by another band. Still desperate to have BATHORY on the album, and not very keen on letting BATHORY off the hook once a contact had been established, the solution was for BATHORY to quickly record a fresh KISS cover exclusively for this KISS 30th anniversary CD.

– I’ve been a KISS fan since December 1975, and so it was of course an honor to be asked to participate in a project that was set up to celebrate KISS on their 30th anniversary. When the “Deuce” deal fell through, I was just so happy, because due to the circumstances during which it had come about, our version of “Deuce” on OCTAGON was truly disastrous. To be honest, I wasn’t too interested in seeing that track representing BATHORY on a celebrating KISS’ 30th anniversary type of an album, and so we were very hesitant to pick up the offer.

– But when it was arranged for BATHORY to record a new fresh KISS cover exclusively for this particular CD, it all sounded a lot more interesting. So we asked which tracks they had secured already. Upon getting the tracking list, we took a good look at it and then looked the entire KISS catalogue over before telling them our choice of cover. We decided on recording a true-to-the-orignal version of “Black Diamond”. We just took one day off for doing that right in the middle of mixing NORDLAND II.

– That was great fun, and a well deserved break from the NORDLAND mountain of work. By that time I was so worn out from having been working day and night for six months on the dinosaur heap of material for the two NORDLAND volumes, and from conducting up to 200 interviews in various forms for NORDLAND I which had just been released a few months earlier. So recording and mixing a track from 1973, and a personal favorite track of mine too, was truly a smile upon my lips. And because we were the only act besides one other band on that release, to do an exclusive cover, the rest of the tracks were old and picked from already released albums, that gave us some edge.

Several covers have been recorded by BATHORY throughout the years, but apart from the three already mentioned, none have been released. Among the unreleased covers that anybody involved can remember, we find such titles as KISS “Detroit Rock City” recorded for TRIBUTE VOLUME II but never used, Queen “Now I’m Here” and “Ogre Battle” both recorded during the Valhalla session but never used, Black Sabbath “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” and “Iron Man”, Motörhead “Overkill” and possibly also “Iron Fist” and “Sex and Outrage” all recorded at various dates between 1986 and 1990.

The 20th Anniversary BATHORY re-masters

During the year 2003, their 20th anniversary year, BATHORY and Black Mark would spend a great deal of time and heaps of money to digitally re-master the entire BATHORY back catalogue. Quorthon would sacrifice weeks to personally supervise the process of digitally re-mastering the entire back catalogue straight from original master tapes. An awful lot of various pressing plants had been used over the years, and the quality, sound and touch had varied over the years. Normally a new glass master is to be produced for every 10.000 copies produced, and too many individuals had been pushing too many philters in during the mastering processes over the years, to the point two copies of one and the same album produced a few years apart, could sound very different from one another. In order to rectify this, and to make the back catalogue better suit modern digital playback equipment, the entire back catalogue was carefully digitally re-mastered to last for two more decades.

At the same time, great effort was made to restore and enhance the cover artwork for all albums. In some cases, the cover artwork for an album would be altered so that the finished result better tied in with the layout of the original Lp’s or an original idea that fell through at some point in the past. Another reason for enhancing and touch the artwork up a dash, was the fact an awful lot of years has past by, the original film were in an awful state and were not only unsuitable for producing for instance new Lp covers, they could generally use a touch up job. An extensive number of former distributors’ tags had been erased or masked out over the years. A fresh artwork was desired for a number of reasons. We extend our gratitude to the staff of Black Mark who outdid themselves in producing such exceptionally fine covers for BATHORY’s 20th anniversary.

The first digitally re-mastered albums, released in the summer of 2003, were BATHORYTHE RETURN OF THE DARKNESS AND EVIL, UNDER THE SIGN OF THE BLACK MARKBLOOD FIRE DEATHHAMMERHEART and TWILIGHT OF THE GODS. Next followed the albums REQUEIMOCTAGONBLOOD ON ICE, as well as the JUBILEUM VOLUME I double album, JUBILEUM VOLUME II double album and JUBILEUM VOLUME III released in the Autumn of 2003.

Since it was only just recently since they were released, neither DESTROYER OF WORLDS nor the two NORDLAND volumes would be digitally re-mastered. Neither would the cover artwork for these albums be altered in any way, that is not counting the alteration of the cover artwork layout for the double vinyl version of NORDLAND. Finally, the KATALOG album would not be subjected to any cover artwork alteration of any sort nor would it be digitally re-mastered.

All the digitally re-mastered albums would first be released in the vinyl format. Initially as limited edition crystal clear vinyl, only 10.000 of each were ever produced, then forever after as ordinary black vinyl. Successively, all BATHORY CD’s out on the market will be replaced with the digitally re-mastered and enhanced cover artwork versions. A tell-tale sign to denote a wrapped CD as a digitally re-mastered CD, is to look for production year on the reverse. If it says © 2003, then it’s a re-master.

the fans’ favorite tracks off the albums released since the 10th anniversary.

Initially this was a limited edition compilation sampler, featuring a track from every
album released up to that date, and intended for promotional and internal use only.
However, due to popular demand, in early 2002 it would be made available to all as a
proper albeit still limited edition release, and it has been regarded as such ever since.

BATHORY’s debut on vinyl. Featuring the original versions of “Sacrifice” and “The Return of

These two track in particular are frequently featured on various bootleg
products and then sold as demo’s. This is also the only recording featuring the first line-up of BATHORY.

The follow-up album in a series of two produced to promote young Scandinavian metal acts
in the early 80’s. With the exception for a Swedish all-girl band, the acts featured on Vol.II are
represented by tracks from albums rather than recordings made exclusively for this compilation,
as was the case with a couple of acts on Vol. I. Representing BATHORY are the tracks “Hades”
and “War” taken from the selftitled debut album.

Prolific towards the end of the 90’s was the tribute trend. Black Mark was asked
by several of their acts if it would be possible to produce a tribute album similar to the
tribute albums then released by the dozen elsewhere. Representing BATHORY is a majestic
and heavy epic style version of the Motörhead classic “Ace of Spades”.

Representing BATHORY is a fairly true-to-the-original version of the Black Sabbath classic “War Pigs”.

Released in 1985BATHORY have made very very few official appearances on compilation albums released by other labels.
This is one of them. Compiled and released by BATHORY’s then UK distribution partner Music For Nation
on their Under One Flag label in 1985. Representing BATHORY is the track “Possessed” taken from
the THE RETURN OF THE DARKNESS AND EVIL album.

“Of Doom”

BATHORY appeared on three Music For Nations/Under One Flag compilation releases altogether.
This is the second appearance. The SPEED KILLS series, produced to promote bands and albums either under direct
contract with Music For Nations or, as in the case with BATHORY, linked to Music For Nations via a distribution deal.
Representing BATHORY is the track “Of Doom” taken from the UNDER THE SIGN OF THE BLACK MARK album.

Since this particular compilation was actually missing from BATHORY’s own archive, we asked you – The Hordes – to help us
retrieve some info on this release plus send us a jpeg on the album cover, so that we could finally ad this to the DISCOGRAPHY
Chapter. Since then we have been wholeheartedly assisted by a string of fans around the world, both emailing us information on
this release and providing us with jpeg’s on the album cover. For this amazing kindness we would like to extend eternal hails of

Speed Kills…But Who’s Buying ?

Released in 1988During the term of their three year UK distribution deal with Music For Nations,
BATHORY would be picked to appear on yet one more Music For Nations/Under One Flag
compilation release. Representing BATHORY is the track “For All Those Who Died”
taken from the BLOOD FIRE DEATH album.

Creatures of the night  a tribute to Kiss
NB 1049-2
Released in 2003Right in the middle of mixing the material set aside for NORDLAND II, BATHORY was approached by the
Nublear Blast label with a proposal for BATHORY to join the rank of several other groups on a Kiss Tribute
release to celebrate Kiss’ 30th anniversary. The original proposal was for BATHORY’s recording of “Deuce”
(taken from the OCTAGON album) to represent BATHORY. But as things turned out, it had somehow slipped
Nublear Blast that this particular track (an old recording by another act) had already been secured for the
tracklist. BATHORY then decided to take a day off from mixing NORDLAND II, to record “Black Diamond”
exclusively for this sampler (one out of only two tracks on this sampler to be exclusive) as their way to
celebrate Kiss on their 30th anniversary. And this on the condition that it would be the final track on the
album. And judging from how the track ends, we think it is pretty safe to say that no other track could
have wrapped this tribute up better than BATHORY’s very explosive version of “Black Diamond”.
